Venezula has hosted 160 refugees, mostly from Chile, Colombia, and Nicaragua. 20 people applied to UNHCR for refugee status in 1998. The agency rejected 17 and recognized 3 as refugees. More than 60,000 Colombians were living in Venezuela in refugee-like circumstances. For more information on refugees in Colombia and other place read this website.
