The Venezuelan pebble toad is quite simply able to evade attackers by tucking in its four legs and curling up into a ball then throwing itself down the side of an incline.
More than likely, it would be an incline upon which the toad was already resting, in the first place.
The pebble toad simply bounces down the rocks as if it were a rubber ball. A BBC crew has filmed the rolling toad's tumbling behavior in slow motion in an attempt to fully capture the essence of this extraordinarily remarkable sight.
