Caribbean Tourist Destination Into a Naval Base

11/01/08 22:32
Hugo Chávez announced his plans to create a naval base on one of Venezuela's popular tourist destinations and home to almost half a million citizens, on Margarita Island.

This move is to help protect the country's extraction of its natural gas reserves and to fight drug trafficking within the area. They want to create a "multipolar world" by joining political, military and economic accords with other countries although criticized by U.S.
